Nobel Prize winning playwright Luigi Pirandello’s absurdist drama comes to Seattle – literally. While a company of fringe artists rehearse a short play festival on Capitol Hill, a group of six lost characters burst into the theatre and beg this small company of actors to stage their story – a story the playwright who conceived them refused to write. As the characters relay their story and the actors begin to stage it, the audience not only begins to learn about the tragic tale these characters are eternally embroiled in, but they are also confronted with philosophical questions about the nature of reality and illusion. A groundbreaking play that caused riots when it first premiered in Rome in 1921 and was banned in Seattle when a theatre company tried to stage it downtown in1928.
